After my original posting, that was so rudely deleted, I felt it was necessary to respond:
I am shocked! Shocked! Is this not a forum for 'comments'? A forum for free expression? Regardless of whether or not they reflect positively upon you, the author?
Explain then, why you feel it necessary to delete my comments, none of which contain any foul language or inappropriate content? They are simple opinions as it were, and for you to delete them seems to cut deep to your core values as a supposed opinion columnist yourself.
For shame! Your censorship will not change the facts of reality Carmi. Try as you might to keep yourself in your little safety bubble, shielded away from the criticism of others, eventually you'll have to face the sad truth - you are bad at what you do, and no one really cares what you have to say.
This garnered a response from an obviously misguided Carmi reader:
Um, Exzite, please don't attempt to speak for the rest of the Internet. It's not Carmi's fault if you don't have the necessary means to "get it." Some of enjoy his musings...and we DO get it. Ya know, there's no law that says you have to read anything he writes, anything I write, or anything anyone writes...
Whew... there's a doozie. Carmi readers 'get it'. Undeterred, I felt it necessary to formulate a more clear response:
Indeed there is no such law, and under normal circumstances I'd be happy to leave Carmi to his 'musings' along with the other poor folk (such as yourself) upon which he inflicts them.
The main issue I have is that Carmi insists on mass-spamming all the other forums in which he posts, clogging up discussions and conversations with links to this retarded blog of his. Every time someone attempts to read through a posting, they can't help but see Carmi's idiotic, self-deluded comments, with his website address rudely plastered all over the place.
It's fine if he can somehow convince people like you to read his crap, but the line is crossed when he attempts to forcefully spam us in our own discussions. His victims (thousands of us) all hate him for this with every fiber of our being.
The worst part is, as annoying as it is to be spammed by Carmi, if he had something meaningful or intelligent to say, perhaps we'd grit our teeth and deal with it. The fact is, however, that he spouts the most inane drivel we've ever seen, and then attempts to portray himself as vastly superior to other users (being a godly 'tech journalist' as he so often brags), all the while inflicting his damn blog spam upon them.
God knows why any of you waste your time reading his 'musings', but to each his own. I only ask that Carmi stop spamming us with his dumb blog, or, more accurately, his idiotic self-important ramblings. After all, remember that even though thousands upon thousands have seen his stupid blog due to his spamming, only you (the somewhat misguided few it would seem) have failed to see Carmi for what he really is - A lame freelancing 'columnist' who longs to be important, but will forever fail to be so.
Then... Carmi responds! As you can see by his comment in the below posting, he is clearly in a state of self-denial, blaming my feelings upon pranksters, posting in his name. Here is his response:
You'll be hearing from Blogger support imminently. I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish, but I assure you I have little patience for games.
In case you haven't paid attention lately, Engadget allows ANYONE to post under ANY name, e-mail address, or URL. There is no verification, which means if I wish to post whatever I want under your name, I am free to do so.
As a newsflash to you, someone (or many someones) has been posting under my name. As an engineer (at least that's what you claim) I thought you'd be able to figure that one out.
I will continue to delete your posts from my blog because I have NO IDEA WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT.
Thank you for realizing your error and governing yourself accordingly.
Ooohh... Blogger support! What, I wonder, is my offense? Could it be providing an opinion? Perhaps this is an offense because it stands in stark contrast to the Carmi-loving comments to his other posts. Or maybe, there are legions of Carmi-haters out there, and he just deletes all their comments too, leaving himself in a blissful Carmi-is-awesome universe!
Well, my intrepid readers (of which there are exactly 0), here is my response, in which I let the cat out of the bag. I am the phantom Carmi engadget poster! Feel my wrath! Of course, I explain myself, but be sure that the explanation will be lost on Carmi:
Here's a wakeup call Carmi, since it would seem you're justifying my comments by writing them off as a response to 'other uses posting in your name'.
Well, my comments are in response to your posts from a time far before we all began posting in your name. I say 'we', because I am one of those 'Carmi' posters. You see, what you fail to realize is that the rash of Carmi postings are a satirical backlash to how annoying your spam is. Not only that, but you're a perfect target because your comments really do sound like 12-year-old livejournal drivel, with a large helping of self-importance. So we have spam AND inane comments (in the time when the comments were only from you even!).
Ask yourself why no one else seems to have problems with others posting in your name. I'll answer for you, it's because no one else is as annoying as you are my friend. I started the first false Carmi posting, yes it was me, as a satirical take on what was already a running joke - you. Others have since joined in, because everyone feels the same way I do!
So stop patting yourself on their back there, assuring yourself that any negative feedback is the fault of pranksters. It is in fact, solely your fault, and perhaps one day someone will deflate you to your rightful place in a more effective manner. Until then, this is the best I can do.
Cheers
